Job Description


We have a great opportunity for a Regional EHS Director, Materials Group Europe position.

Ideally, you can be located in one of our major sites in Europe (Germany, France, Luxembourg,...).

In this strategic and yet very operational role, you will report to the directly to the VP EHS with a strong dotted line to the VP Operations & Supply Chain, Europe.

Your main missions will be the following:

  • Direct the regional EHS OGSM vision, strategy and action plans that are aligned with Operations & Supply Chain strategies. Chairs and oversees the regional EHS Linkage team calls and meetings to track and monitor OGSM objectives and incident trends.
  • Manage strategies for safety culture and injury prevention.
  • Facilitate and participate in facility-level risk assessments and self-inspection processes, oversee gaps to ensure prompt correction of identified gaps and documentation of corrective actions.
  • Provide regional technical assistance on corporate initiatives, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate notification of environmental, health and safety-related incidents to regulatory authorities and/or internal management teams.
  • Identify plants with subpar EHS performance and works with the plant leadership teams to review results, create an improvement plan and accountabilities with specific due dates. Offers consultative support and follow up.
  • Guide internal business leaders at all levels of the organization on company specific EHS requirements & initiatives.
  • Conduct environmental, health and safety incident-related investigations, root-cause analysis, and monitors closure of EHS incident action items..
  • Identify appropriate resource needs for facilities within the region, and evaluates and analyzes indicators (leading and lagging) and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with HR and plant managers in hiring, coaching and developing EHS talent to achieve a high level of performance as a part of the plant leadership team.; Also partners with site leadership during the hiring process for EHS roles.
  • Assess impacts of emerging issues and changing business strategies as it relates to EHS initiatives.
  • Partner with the corporate Global EHS Leadership Team to support the development of corporate strategies, standards, programs and processes that drive standardization and consistency.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommended solutions for resolving complex issues, serves as a sounding board before final actions are agreed.
  • Ensure accountability within the team related to overall regulatory compliance as well as metrics and associated data entry.
  • Collaborate and supports Sustainability metrics associated with EHS (RIR, waste, landfill free, recycle).

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in environmental engineering, occupational safety, or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • you possess proven leadership skills - you areable to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.

  • you have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • you are ready to travel to facilities in Europe as required, at least 25% of the time.
